The Algoma District Cancer Program of the Sault Area Hospital seeks applications for a General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO) with superior clinical and leadership abilities to join us as we move to our new state of the art hospital and cancer centre in 2011. The GPO will work with the medical oncologists and the rest of our vibrant, multidisciplinary team to manage, direct, and provide both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
 
The ADCP offers a full range of services in medical oncology and palliative care and will also offer radiation oncology when we move to our New Hospital in 2011. Support services including nutrition, oncologic pharmacy, and social work collaborate with our medical oncologists and highly skilled nursing staff to provide outstanding care to cancer patients in the Algoma region. We also have an active Clinical Trials department that has been participating in NCIC, OCOG and industry sponsored trials for over 20 years.
 
Sault Ste. Marie offers affordable housing, excellent schools, a very manageable commute, and a true four season climate that allows us to participate in a wide variety of recreational activities year round.
 
Each of our clinical staff enjoys an affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) that provides the opportunity to obtain a faculty appointment commensurate with academic rank.
 
Full time positions are eligible for a competitive incentive/relocation package as well as annual additional provincial funding through the Northern Allowance Program.
 
Qualifications:
 
  •         Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  •         Appointed to, or eligible for appointment to medical staff of the SAH
  •         Current OHIP billing number
  •         Current Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) insurance coverage
